Foundation for Quality Facade Construction
When purchasing a pin lock, pay attention to the SKG logo (Foundation for Quality Facade Construction). Many of our locks are SKG approved.
The Stichting Kwaliteit Gevelbouw seal of approval, is also referred to as the SKG seal of approval. The SKG seal is also known as the star seal. There is a logo with 1, 2 or 3 stars. These stars indicate the degree of burglar resistance:
- one SKG star: standard burglar resistance
- two SKG stars: heavy burglar resistance
- three SKG stars: extra heavy burglar resistance
Stars are awarded after doing several tests. During these tests, the SKG employee pretends to be a burglar. This so-called burglar tries to use tools such as hammers, screwdrivers and even heavy grinders, to get a lock open.
Does the “burglar” get the lock open right away? Then the lock does not get a star. Does it take longer to open a lock? Then the lock gets one, two or three stars. A pin lock SKG only has one or two stars. Three stars are not awarded to pen locks.
Stud locks approved by the Foundation for Quality Facade Construction are always equipped with a locking plate and a locking bowl.
Padlock brands
There are different types of brands, such as:

Between the brands are no external characteristics, mortise lock nemef looks the same as ivana mortise lock. The operation and mechanism of the mortise locks of different brands are also the same. However, there is a difference in price. It ranges from 35 euros – 200 euros. Locksmith 365 will gladly install a mortise lock for you!
Tips from the locksmith
Preventing a problem is better than solving a problem. We are happy to provide tips for the use and maintenance of mortise locks:
- If the pin lock does not work, your first reaction may be “lubricate with oil.” Don’t do this! The thickness and amount of oil can cause the lock to do just the opposite: not work. For the maintaining mortise locks there is special lock spray. Lock spray is much thinner and more watery than oil and therefore better for the pin lock.
- The key to your pin lock won’t turn in the keyhole. It is recommended not to force the key in this situation. In doing so, it is more likely that the key breaks. In that case, you can call Locksmith 365. But prevention is better than resolution.
- Replacing a pin lock must be done very accurately. It is better to hire a locksmith if your mortise lock needs to be replaced.

There is little difference between different mortise locks. The lips mortise lock, nemef mortise lock, zaso mortise lock, fiam mortise lock, ivana mortise lock and the ikon mortise lock do not differ in appearance or operation. Only the price between brands varies between 35 euros – 200 euros.
Is there a difference between the quality of different brands of mortise locks?
No, the quality, operation and appearance of the mortise locks are the same. A cheaper version has one or two stars. And the more expensive versions have at least two stars.
